A Ghostly Sub 19: 4) YaHoo! Some Thoughts...
Monday 12/21/2009 is:
The Winter Solstice 'the shortest day'
It is not to be celebrated for being the shortest,
but because all of the days after, get longer,
meaning... more time to Ride Your Bike
Yee Haw

The solstice itself is a special moment,
Midwinter.
The archaeological site, The Stonehenge.
The primary axes of this monument is carefully aligned on
a sight-line pointing to the winter solstice sunset.
The Great Trilithon was erected with its smooth flat face
turned towards the midwinter Sun.
The winter solstice was immensely important because
communities were not certain of living through the winter.
Starvation was common between January and April,
also known as the famine months.
The midwinter festival was the last feast celebration,
before deep winter began.
Most cattle were slaughtered so they would not have
to be fed during the winter.
The majority of wine and beer made during the year
was finally fermented and ready for drinking.
In other words... Lets Party!
errr.. I mean,
Ride Your Bike!
